What are License Tiers?
License Tiers is the new system of counting Evidence.com licenses at your agency, as well as storage allocation. There are three tiers total: two paid tiers, Basic and Pro, which provide access to different features and permission, and the Lite tier that is provided free of charge, but has limited feature access. Most of the users at your agency will fall into the Basic tier and the Pro tier. Users who only need to use Evidence.com to upload and manage CEW firing logs can be assigned to the free Lite tier.
Which features are available in Pro, Basic, and Lite?
The table below provides an overview of the features available under the paid tiers. Non-paid licenses, Lite Users and Armorers, allow for CEW management and nothing else.

What is the License Tiers Configuration Mode?
We understand that it will take time for your agency to reconfigure your roles and move users around as needed, so we created License Tiers Configuration Mode. While your agency is in License Tiers Configuration Mode the rules for licenses associated with License Tiers are not enforced, giving you time to make changes. Please contact your Axon representative if you would like to learn more about how long your agency will be in Configuration Mode.
How do I check to see how many licenses my agency has purchased?
Administrators can view the number of licenses their agency has purchased on the Dashboard in Evidence.com. Your agency's licenses are displayed in large numbers at the top of the Dashboard. This section of the Dashboard shows the number of licenses currently available for each paid tier above the total number of licenses your agency has purchased for that tier.
The same license counters appear on the Roles page. Users who are under the Lite tier at your agency will not show up in the license counters because their licenses are free.
How do I tell if a user on Evidence.com is Pro, Basic, or Lite?
You can tell which tier a user is part of by checking their information in Evidence.com.
Go to the All Users search page, search for the user, and note the information in the Tier column.
Roles are associated with different tiers and you can search for the number of users assigned to a role on this page. Click into the Role drop down and select a role. Note that the tier associated with each role is shown in parenthesis next to the role name. Clicking Search provides you with a list of all the users assigned to that role.
How do I change a user's role?
You can change a user's role from the User Search page or from the User Profile.
From User Search:
- On the menu bar, click Admin and then under Users, click All Users
- Enter the user's name and click Search
- Select the user by clicking the check box next to their name
- Click Update Role
- Select a new role from the drop down menu and click OK
From User Profile:
- After clicking on a the user's name anywhere in Evidence.com you are taken to their User Profile. This page shows the user's User Information, Uploads, Assigned Devices, and Groups
- Click Manage User in the upper right of the page
- Under Account Details, near the bottom of the page, use the drop down to select a new User Role for the user
Note that the tier associated with the role is shown in parenthesis - Click Save
How do I fix the following Errors?
Error: License limit reached
This error can appear on a number of places in Evidence.com and it means that you don't have enough licenses available in the Pro tier, Basic tier, or both to complete the action you are trying to take. You may need to move users out of role in order to make room for the new user, or you may decide to purchase more licenses at that tier for your agency.
Error: Could not complete upload of members and monitors.
Only users in Pro tier roles can be set as monitors of groups. Double check that the users you are setting as monitors of groups are all in Pro tier roles. You will also need to double check that the members of groups that monitor other groups are all in a Pro tier role.
Groups page: only users in Pro roles can add monitors or be monitors of a group.
Only Pro tier users have the ability to be set as monitors of groups, or to set others as monitors. Double check that the people you are setting as monitors of groups are all in Pro tier roles.
Glossary
Basic tier: The Basic tier is the lower of the two paid tiers on Evidence.com. Basic tier users are people who need to upload and manage their digital evidence, but do not need access to advanced features such as Automated Redaction and Group Monitoring. For more information about features available on the Basic tier, see this FAQ or refer to Appendix A in the Evidence.com Administrator Reference Guide.
License: A license is what allows a user to access to Evidence.com in a Basic or Pro capacity. Every user who needs to use features at the Basic or Pro tier level must have a license. License counters appear on the administrator's view of the Dashboard, and the Roles page to help you keep track of your licenses. Users in the Lite tier do not count toward your agency's total licenses.
License tier: A license tier is another way of referring to the Basic tier or the Pro tier.
Lite tier: The Lite tier is a complementary tier that every agency gets when they sign up for Evidence.com. Users in the Lite tier are those who only need to upload and manage their CEW Firing Logs. You may add unlimited users to the Lite tier and it does not count against your agency's total licenses.
Permission Setting: A permission setting is a set of controls associated with every permission listed on the Create/Edit Role page. Most permission settings have two options, Allowed and Prohibited, while some permission settings have three options, All Evidence, Only Their Own, and Prohibited.
Permission settings can appear as Unavailable on this page for two reasons:
- They are only available under the Pro tier and the currently selected role is not set to the Pro tier. These permissions have a PRO label next to them.
and/or
- They require another permission setting to be set to Allowed, Only Their Own, or All Evidence/All Cases before they are available. For example, many permissions require User Search to be allowed in order for them to be available.
Pro tier: The Pro tier is the higher of the two paid tiers on Evidence.com. Pro tier users are people who need access to advanced features, such as Automated Redaction, Group Monitoring, Agency Analytics, and Human Transcription Services, among others. For more information about features available on the Pro tier, see this FAQ or refer to Appendix A in the Evidence.com Administrator Reference Guide.
