The TASER X2, X26, and X26P CEWs are connected to a computer and Evidence Sync using a dataport cable. The plug of the cable is inserted into the CEW in place of the battery pack. The other end of the dataport cable is inserted into a USB port on the computer. There are two types of dataport cables – one is plug designed for the X26 CEW and the other is designed to work with both the X2 and X26P CEWs. Verify you have the correct dataport cable before trying to connect the CEW.
Note: Dataport cables for X2 and X26P CEWs can also be clear with a black button on the plug.
Connecting an X26 CEW
- Open and sign in to Evidence Sync.
- Verify the safety switch is in the down (SAFE) position and that any cartridges are unloaded. Remove the DPM/XDPM from the X26 handle and set it aside. See the TASER X26 section of the Axon Help Center for information on unloading cartridges and removing the battery pack.
- Insert the dataport cable plug, the end that looks like a DPM, into the X26 handle.
- Connect the USB side of the cable to a USB port on the computer.
Note: Each time you connect an X26 CEW, you must remove the USB side of the cable from the computer and then reinsert it for Evidence Sync to read the new X26.
- After completing your work with Evidence Sync, remove the dataport cable plug from the handle and place the DPM/XDPM back into the X26 handle.
Connecting an X26P or X2 CEW
- Open and sign in to Evidence Sync.
- Verify the safety switch is in the down (SAFE) position and that any cartridges are unloaded. Remove the PPM/APPM/TPPM/SPPM from the handle of the X26P/X2 and set it aside.
- Insert the dataport cable plug, the end that looks like a PPM/APPM/TPPM/SPPM, into the X26P/X2 handle.
- Connect the USB side of the cable to a USB port on the computer.
Note: Each time you connect an X26P/X2 CEW, you must press the button on the dataport cable plug (the end inserted into the CEW handle). This resets the connection and allows Evidence Sync to read the new CEW.
- After completing your work with Evidence Sync, remove the dataport cable plug from the handle and place the PPM/APPM/TPPM/SPPM back into the X26P/X2 handle.
