Axon Commander System Settings section is used to manage general system settings, create an optional schedule for moving and copying files, and to manage legacy system settings.
Standard System Settings
The Standard tab has settings for retention of audit and activity logs, password requirements for Commander Users, and other miscellaneous settings.
- Click System Settings in the Administration navigation pane.
The System Settings Standard tab information is shown. - Set the Retention settings for Axon Commander:
- Retention of audit log (in days): Sets how long, in days, the audit log is retained.
- Retention of Activity/Error Log: Sets how long, in days, the activity log is retained.
- Set the Password Settings for Axon Commander users:
Note: These settings have no impact on Active Directory users.
- Minimum password length: This sets the minimum number of characters for Axon Commander user passwords.
- Must contain uppercase and lowercase letters: When selected, Axon Commander user passwords must contain an upper and lower case letter.
- Must contain both letters and numbers: When selected, Axon Commander user passwords must contain both letters and numbers.
- Days before passwords expire: This sets the number of days a password can be used before the user is required to change it. The maximum value is 365 days. Setting the value to zero (0) means that passwords do not expire.
- Set the Miscellaneous settings for Axon Commander:
- Server Identifier: Sets the Axon Commander server name for files sent to another Axon Commander server with the Destinations feature. This is used to show the name of the server the file came from.
- Hide inaccessible files in search results: When selected, files that users do not have rights to access are hidden in the Axon Commander Client search results. By default, this option is not selected. In this case, files that users cannot access are highlighted in red in the search results.
- Retention of inaccessible removed files (in days): Sets how long, in days, the removed files are retained by the system.
- Session Timeout: Sets the number of minutes an Axon Commander client session can be inactive before the user is logged out, which requires the user to log back into Axon Commander to resume their session. The default setting is 30 minutes, with a minimum setting of 15 minutes and a maximum setting of 480 minutes.
- Set the Interface Configuration for Axon Commander:
- Display Units: Sets if Axon Commander measurements use Imperial or Metric units.
- Set the Destination Transfer settings for Axon Commander:
- Concurrent Inbound Limit: Sets maximum number of simultaneous transfers that the Axon Commander instance can receive from another Axon Commander instance. If the number of inbound transfers exceeds the concurrent limit, some transfers will be placed in queued state. The transfer will begin once prior downloads have completed and depending on transfer's position in the queue.
- Concurrent Outbound Limit: Sets maximum number of simultaneous transfers that the Axon Commander instance can send to another Destination location. If the number of outbound transfers exceeds the concurrent limit, some transfers will be placed in queued state. The transfer will begin once prior downloads have completed and depending on transfer's position in the queue.
- Set the Features for you Axon Commander installation.
- Use new image viewer: Sets if the advanced image viewer is the default image viewer for your Axon Commander installation. The advanced image viewer has options to rotate and zoom into the image.
- Click Save, in the lower right, to save the Standard setting changes.
Schedule System Settings
The Schedule tab is used to set a scheduled time when Axon Commander will move and copy files. It is intended for networks that have high activity during certain periods and do not want Axon Commander using network bandwidth to move and copy files to storage locations during those periods.
- Click System Settings in the Administration navigation pane.
- Click the Schedule tab to create a storage schedule.
- You can edit an existing schedule by changing the settings in the appropriate schedule row or create a new schedule by selecting a blank row.
- Select the Day, Starting Time, and Duration for the schedule:
- Day: This can be set for a specific day (Monday, Tuesday, etc.), every day on Monday through Friday, or for every day. The default setting is Every Day.
- Starting Time: This can be set for any time during the day. The setting is in 15 minute increments and uses the 24-hour clock. The default setting is Midnight.
- Duration: This can be set for any duration in increments of 30 minutes. The default setting is 24 hours.
- Remove: Click Remove to remove the selected storage schedule.
- Click Save, in the lower right, to save the schedule changes.
Legacy System Settings
- Click System Settings in the Administration navigation pane.
- Click the Legacy
- Set the Selector setting for Axon Commander:
- Make object selectors filterable (not recommended): When selected, the object selectors can be used as filters. This setting is normally not enabled. It is not recommended because it can significantly slow Axon Commander Client response times.
- Set the Home Folders setting for Axon Commander:
- Enable home folders: When selected, Axon Commander automatically creates a Home folder for every user and an Association for the user with the Constraint of “[User]” and a Folder of “[Username]”. This is not enabled by default and you might not want to enable it if you have a large number of users in your system. When enabled, the following settings become active and can be changed:
- Default storage location: Sets the default storage location for Home folders. The default location is named Default Storage Location.
- Default retention period (in days): Sets the default retention time for Home folders. The default setting is 30 days.
- Post-retention workflow: This sets the default post-retention workflow for Home folders. The default setting is the Recycle Bin.
- Enable home folders: When selected, Axon Commander automatically creates a Home folder for every user and an Association for the user with the Constraint of “[User]” and a Folder of “[Username]”. This is not enabled by default and you might not want to enable it if you have a large number of users in your system. When enabled, the following settings become active and can be changed:
- Click Save, in the lower right, to save the Legacy Setting changes.
