The Inventory section allows administrators and users with the appropriate Rights to view, manage, assign, create, and configure Axon devices for users.
Users with the Manage device assignment Right can:
- View, assign, set the name, and set the port information for Axon body worn cameras.
- Create and modify Vehicle information for Axon Fleet 2 installations.
Users with the Manage device configuration Right can:
- View, set the name, and set the port information for Axon body worn cameras
- Create and modify Vehicle information for Axon Fleet 2 installations
- View information for Axon Signal Devices
- Manage Device Settings
Searching for and Viewing Inventory Information
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane.
- Click the appropriate tab (Cameras, Vehicles, Signal Devices, or TASER devices) for the item you want to view.
Note: The TASER section includes TASER 7 handles, batteries, and cartridges. - Use the Device Search filters at the top of the page to set your search criteria.
- Click Search.
The search results are shown in the lower-half of the page.
Setting a Camera Name
Setting the Camera Name can make it easier to find and work with the camera in Axon Commander.
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane and verify the Cameras tab is selected. If not, click the Cameras tab.
- Use the Cameras Search filters to set the search criteria to find the camera you want to name.
- Click Search.
- Find the camera you want to name.
- Click in the Camera Name field and type a name for the camera.
- Press the Enter key or move to any new field to save the name change.
Changing Camera Assignment
You must have the Manage device assignment Right to assign, reassign, or unassign devices.
Files imported or ingested from an assigned device are automatically assigned to the device’s assigned user.
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane and verify the Cameras tab is selected. If not, click the Cameras
- Search for the camera you want to assign or unassign.
- Click in the Assigned To field, the Pick User dialog box is shown.
- Select the name of the user you want to assign the camera to and click OK. To unassign a camera, select Unassigned. You can use the Filter field to narrow down the list of users by typing the last name of users.
If you are reassigning or unassigning a camera, the system will ask you to confirm the change.
The system shows a message with the change in assignment status in the lower right side of the page.
Assigning Port Numbers to Axon Cameras (Optional)
Camera port numbers are only used if your Axon Commander installation is configured to interact with Milestone XProtect.
- Click Devices in the Administration navigation pane.
- In the All Devices tab, search for all the Axon body cameras that need to stream to the Milestone system.
- In the Port column, enter an unused port number for each Axon body camera that will stream to Milestone. Each camera must have a unique port number.
Adding a Vehicle
Vehicle information is used with Axon Fleet 2 installations. Each vehicle must be configured in Axon Commander before the associated Axon View XL application can connect to the system and upload videos from Axon Fleet 2 cameras. The mobile data terminal (MDT) or mobile digital computer (MDC) in the vehicle uses the Wi-Fi configuration (SSID and password) information to connect to the system.
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane and then click the Vehicles
- Click Create. The Create a Vehicle dialog box is shown.
- Type a Vehicle Name for the vehicle.
- Enter the serial number for Axon Signal Vehicle device installed in the vehicle.
The serial number for Axon Signal Vehicle devices always begins with X87. - Enter the serial numbers for the Axon Fleet Power Units associated with the Fleet Camera front and back cameras.
- Enter the Wi-Fi SSID and Password for the system. You can select Show Password to view the password.
Note: The SSID is case-sensitive. - Click Create. The vehicle information is added to the Vehicles page.
Modify Vehicle Information
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane and then click the Vehicles
- Search for the vehicle you need to modify.
- Click the vehicle name. The Modify a Vehicle dialog box is shown.
- Enter the updated information in the appropriate fields. You can leave fields blank if needed.
Note: The SSID is case-sensitive. - Click Modify. The updated vehicle information is saved and shown on the Vehicles page.
Changing TASER Device Assignment
You must have the Manage device assignment Right to assign, reassign, or unassign devices.
Files imported or ingested from an assigned device are automatically assigned to the device’s assigned user.
- Click Inventory in the Administration navigation pane click the TASERS tab.
- Search for the TASER device you want to assign or unassign.
Note: You can only assign TASER device handles to users. - Click in the Assigned To field, the Pick User dialog box is shown.
- Select the name of the user you want to assign the device to and click OK. To unassign a device, select Unassigned. You can use the Filter field to narrow down the list of users by typing the last name of users.
If you are reassigning or unassigning a device, the system will ask you to confirm the change.
The system shows a message with the change in assignment status in the lower right side of the page.
