Note: Gunshot detection is currently in beta testing and the Activity Detection settings are normally disabled. Your Axon Body 3 camera must have Operating System (OS) v1.7 or later to use False Gunshot Detection Dismissal.
The False Gunshot Detection Dismissal workflow allows an Axon Body 3 camera user to report a gunshot detection activation and associated recording as a false detection. A upcoming Axon Evidence release will add the option to also automatically add a Category to the false detection recording.
To enable the new False Gunshot Detection Dismissal workflow, both the Gunshot detection recording and False activity detection cancellation settings must be enabled on the Axon Body 3 Camera Settings page. Optionally, you can select evidence category that is automatically applied to recordings cancelled as a false activation.
Dismissing a False Gunshot Detection
Users can dismiss a false gunshot detection by pressing the Select button.
The following example show the dismissal workflow when the Axon Body 3 camera is in Ready mode and when recording.
If the camera is in the READY (buffering) mode and a gunshot detection occurs:
- The camera begins recording. The camera display shows the message Press Select to Cancel for 20 seconds to allow users to dismiss the gunshot detection.
- If the Select Button is pressed, the gunshot detection will be reported false (dismissed) and the camera will end the recording and return to the READY state.
- If the Select button is not pressed within 20 seconds, the message is removed, the gunshot detection is not dismissed, and the camera will continue recording. The Gunshot Detection icon is shown on the camera display.
If the camera is Recording and a gunshot detection occurs:
- The camera display shows the message Press Select to Cancel for 20 seconds to allow users to dismiss the gunshot detection.
- If the Select Button is pressed, the gunshot detection will be reported false (dismissed). The camera continues to record and the Gunshot Detection icon is shown on the camera display to indicate a gunshot was detected while recording.
- If the Select button is not pressed within 20 seconds, the message is removed, the gunshot detection is not dismissed, and the camera will continue recording. The Gunshot Detection icon is shown on the camera display.
